Car Salesman Shake Hands

If you are looking for a new car, you are probably considering how you are going to get the money to pay for it. You could save up and pay cash for a new car, but most likely, you are going to end up having to get a loan. When obtaining financing for your car, you should make sure to avoid a few key mistakes.

Negotiate Price Of The Car Not The Payment

The first thing you do is negotiate the price of the car as opposed to your monthly payment. The reason is that the price on the sticker is not the price you should be paying. Even if you have to walk out of a couple dealerships to get your price, hold out for at least 500-1000 dollars less than sticker price. Your monthly payment is not going to equal the price of the car after interest and other fees are tacked on. Continue reading »

I’ve been dabbling in this for a while now, and I have it down to science at this time. This is really working for me. In fact, For the past three months, I have averaged over $1000 in extra income by doing exactly this. I’m not going to try to sell you anything here. I just bought a nice truck- woohoo! It rides so smooth. After driving a crappy car for a couple of years, it feels good. I really didn’t think I would qualify for a car loan because I haven’t worked in over a year due to a back injury. But, even with a meager income from SSI, and no credit whatsoever for over seven years, I qualified for financing from Economy Auto in Knox, Indiana.

But what about the rest of it? Do they stand behind their vehicles? I’m going to get into all the particulars about my deal with them, and let you decide for yourself. Continue reading »

I remember the day I made up the saying “beater control.” A good friend of mine reminded me of that the other day and we had a good laugh, so I thought I’d tell the story. It dates back about twenty-two years, when I was working as a supervisor at a local diaper delivery service. Continue reading »

Consumer Guide has an excellent tool- a Car Trade-in Calculator. It will evaluate the value of your used car. Before you trade one in, be sure to know what it is worth. Remember when there were all kinds of True Story magazines at the newsstands? Well, there is one of those on the web. Driver Story Magazine tells true stories of road rage. They have a bunch of other driver stories too. But the road rage stories is what caught my eye. Anyone who drives in a city knows road rage- either they almost lost it, or someone lost their mind within sight. We’ve all seen it, and it makes for some good reading. Continue reading »

I have about 150,000 ebooks I sell and give away on other websites, and I came across these two about buying used cars. So I thought I’d pass them on. They are free, and even come with resell rights, so you could give them away or even sell them legally.

The first one, How to buy a used Car without getting Ripped off, reveals common scams a lot of unscrupulous dealers try to use on you. It’s definitely worth a read if you ever plan on buying a used car. Continue reading »

My first car was a 1967 Oldsmobile F-85. I paid $140 for it. It ran great too. It was a nasty green, just like the one in this blurry picture here. It had a three-speed on the column, or, as we used to call it- three on the tree.

It was so rusty, and had no carpet, so I was embarrassed of it, even though I was proud. So I did what any respectable teenager would do- I put some hot pink carpet in it (that was all I could find) and painted it primer black, right over the rust. Continue reading »
