Introducing the Ram Promaster Electric Van

Ram, an established brand in the automotive sector, has recently launched its first fully electric vehicle, the Ram ProMaster Electric Van (EV). The vehicle, aimed at urban transportation, offers a potential range of up to 162 miles. This introduction marks an important development in Ram’s efforts to expand its vehicle offerings to include more sustainable and eco-friendly options.

The Ram ProMaster EV is available in two mission-specific configurations: a delivery model and two cargo models. These include a 12-foot cargo length and an extended 13-foot cargo length option, both with 159-inch wheelbases. This versatility caters to varying commercial needs, offering an efficient solution for businesses of different scales.

Power and Performance

Under the hood, the ProMaster EV is equipped with a standard 110-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack, promising up to 162 miles of city driving range. The cargo van model can handle up to 3,020 pounds of payload, while the delivery configuration offers a 2,030-pound payload capacity. A 200-kilowatt (kW) electric drive module delivers 268 horsepower and 302 pound-feet of torque, ensuring robust performance.

Design and Charging Options

The vehicle’s design is tailored for electrification, featuring a unibody structure with an efficiently incorporated battery pack. This design maintains the cargo volume and facilitates a flat floor for ease of loading. Charging options include Level 3 DC fast charging at various capacities and a Level 2 wall box charger, enhancing convenience for users.

Fleet Management and Technology

The delivery model of the ProMaster EV is equipped with a rear roll-up door, made from anodized aluminum for durability and weight efficiency. It also includes Ram Telematics for improved fleet management, offering vehicle diagnostics and performance data. The vehicle supports Firmware Over the Air (FOTA) updates, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and Apps Over the Air (AOTA).

Customization and Cargo Handling

ProMaster EV is designed to meet a wide range of customer needs in the vocational and delivery sectors. It offers multiple configurations, including two roof heights, two cargo lengths, and two body styles. The cargo space is optimized for handling, with features like a low load-floor height and maximum cargo width.

Safety, Security, and Advanced Technology

The ProMaster EV introduces enhanced safety and security features for commercial vans, including a comprehensive suite of safety technologies. Key features comprise Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning, Crosswind Assist, a rear backup camera, and Drowsiness Detection. In addition to these, the vehicle is equipped with a high-resolution backup camera for better rear visibility. An optional feature is the 360-degree Surround View camera, providing a broader view around the vehicle for improved situational awareness.
