The VinFast VF9, a full-size, three-row electric SUV, aims to provide eco-conscious consumers with a premium alternative in a segment where options remain limited. The first customers received their vehicles during a launch event at VinFast’s Los Angeles headquarters on Monday.

California First, Then Nationwide

Deliveries will continue throughout November via VinFast’s California retail stores and nationwide dealerships. The VF9 is priced at $69,800 for the Eco model and $73,800 for the Plus model. A limited-time lease promotion offers the Plus model at $529 per month for qualified lessees, including a $3,500 discount and a $2,000 down payment.

“We are very excited to officially hand over the VF9,” said Mike Nolte, VinFast U.S. Network Sales Vice President. “It is one of the few seven-passenger, three-row electric models on the market, offering premium quality, luxury, and value.”

Power, Room, and Pininfarina Design

The VF9 boasts an EPA-estimated range of 330 miles for the Eco trim and 291 miles for the Plus trim. Measuring 201.5 inches long, 78.9 inches wide, and 66.7 inches tall, the SUV provides ample space for families. Its 7.2-inch ground clearance further enhances its versatility.

Designed by Pininfarina, the VF 9 features advanced technology such as an enhanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) and a smart infotainment suite with a customizable 15.6-inch touchscreen. The SUV also includes 11 airbags, internet streaming, web browsing, and navigation capabilities.

Additional highlights include increased cargo space, a frunk under the hood, and a robust warranty covering 10 years or 125,000 miles. VinFast provides 24/7 roadside assistance and mobile repair services.

Expanding Consumer Network

The automaker supports its customers through a growing U.S. network of 15 retail stores, four service centers in California, and partnerships with 36 dealerships across 15 states.

VinFast’s VF9 launch reinforces its commitment to the U.S. market while providing environmentally friendly transportation for families. The Eco trim is expected to reach customers later this year.

North Carolina Plant Delay

VinFast has postponed the opening of its planned $4 billion factory in North Carolina to 2028, citing challenges in the global EV market, according to Reuters. The decision is part of the company’s strategy to optimize capital allocation while focusing on near-term growth targets.

Despite the delay, VinFast remains committed to its U.S. expansion, including the ongoing delivery of its VF9 all-electric SUVs to American customers. The VF 9 joins the VF8 and VF7 as all-electric models available in the U.S. A fourth model, the compact VF6, arrives by the 2027 model year, reports Car & Driver.
