Nissan’s flagship Armada SUV is all-new for 2025. This full-size model features a fresh design, a twin-turbo V6 engine, enhanced technologies, and an available PRO-4X off-road grade – a first for this vehicle. With this overhaul, the Nissan Armada keeps up with the competition by delivering a thoroughly modern ownership experience.
Bold Design and Available PRO-4X Embellishments
The new Nissan Armada brings a refreshed look with its rugged design elements, particularly in the PRO-4X grade. This one includes Lava Red accents, 20-inch all-terrain tires, and black trim on the grille, mirrors, and roof rails. Standard LED lighting, hidden rear wipers, and an aerodynamic air curtain in the front fascia advance the Armada’s modern design. The Armada offers 18-, 20-, or 22-inch wheels and a wide range of color options, including two-tone roof treatments available on select grades.
Interior Comfort and Cargo Space
Inside, the 2025 Armada offers more space for passengers and cargo, including increased legroom in both the first and third rows. Most grades hold eight passengers or seven with middle-row captain’s chairs.
Premium materials such as open-pore wood, ambient lighting, and quilted leather seats are available on upper trims, while the SUV’s dashboard features dual screens: a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and an infotainment touchscreen that upgrades to 14.3 inches on higher trims. PRO-4X, Platinum, and Platinum Reserve grades also feature massaging, heated, and cooled front seats and an optional Biometric Cooling system to target cooling based on body temperature.
The Armada’s cargo area has expanded, providing up to 97.1 cubic feet with all seats folded (20.4 standard and 56.3 cubic feet behind the second row). Notably, the Platinum and higher grades offer a motion-activated liftgate for ease of access.
Advanced Technology Integration
The 2025 Armada integrates numerous technologies across all grades. Google built-in features, such as Google Maps and Google Assistant, are standard on SL and higher trims. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard across all models, and six USB-C ports, plus a wireless device charger on SL trims and higher, simplify charging for all passengers.
For high-quality sound, an available 12-speaker Klipsch® Premium Audio System includes a subwoofer and 600 watts of power. This is a typical, but welcome upgrade common to the class.
Safety and Driver Assistance
The Armada includes a range of driver assistance technologies across its trim levels. ProPILOT Assist is standard on SV and PRO-4X, offering lane-keeping and Intelligent Cruise Control. On higher trims, ProPILOT Assist 1.1 uses navigation data to adjust speed on curves, while ProPILOT Assist 2.1, available on SL, Platinum, and Platinum Reserve, provides hands-off driving on single-lane highways under certain conditions.
Standard safety features under Nissan Safety Shield® 360 include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot warning, lane departure warning, rear automatic braking, and rear cross traffic alert. platinum and higher trims add features like trailer blind spot monitoring for improved visibility when towing.
Configurations and Grades
The 2025 Armada is available in five grades: SV, SL, PRO-4X, Platinum, and Platinum Reserve. All trims offer a choice between rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, with the exception of the PRO-4X, which includes standard 4WD.
Powerful and Efficient New Engine
The 2025 Armada comes with a new twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 425 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque—an upgrade over the previous V8. Engine enhancements such as Idle Stop-Start technology and mirror bore coatings improve fuel efficiency. A 9-speed automatic transmission replaces the previous 7-speed, adding paddle shifters and a wider gear ratio range for quicker acceleration and smoother cruising.
All Armada models are rated to tow up to 8,500 pounds and include a Class IV tow hitch, 7-pin wiring, and standard Trailer Blind Spot Monitoring for added safety when towing.
Enhanced Capability
the redesigned armada offers improved on-road performance and increased off-road capability. key structural changes include a 25 percent increase in torsional rigidity and 57 percent increased lateral stiffness, enhancing ride quality and sound insulation. this foundation supports the new pro-4x grade, built for rugged terrain and outfitted with standard four-wheel drive, an electronic locking rear differential, adaptive electronic air suspension, and a metal skid plate.
The Armada can tow up to 8,500 pounds, making it ideal for hauling and long trips. Furthermore, the PRO-4X trim adds specific features for tough terrain. For instance, it includes a raised suspension that lifts up to 2.1 inches. Additionally, improved approach and departure angles and 9.6 inches of ground clearance boost versatility. Moreover, the PRO-4X offers eight selectable drive modes and Hill Descent Control. Finally, Nissan’s Off-road Information Display helps drivers stay informed and in control across different environments.
Taking on the Competition
The Armada operates in a sea of large body-on-frame SUVs. The competition is fierce and includes the Toyota Sequoia, Ford Expedition, Chevrolet Tahoe, Jeep Wagoneer, and the GMC Yukon. Like the Toyota and Ford, the Armada relies on a twin-turbo V6, while its GM competitors deliver V8 engine choices.
All in all, the new Nissan Armada offers a competitive package. Pricing has yet to be announced, but we’re expecting $60,000 for the base model and about $75,000 as the price point for well-equipped versions.
