Standout Models Drive Success

Key to Mazda’s December success were several models that achieved record sales. The CX-50 led the way with its best-ever sales month, moving 5,754 units off dealership lots. Following closely was the CX-5, a perennial favorite, which set a record for its best December sales at 20,434 vehicles. The CX-30 also demonstrated strong market performance, achieving its best December sales with 5,672 vehicles sold. These models’ success underscores Mazda’s ability to meet diverse consumer preferences with a range of well-received vehicles.

Milestones and Achievements in the U.S. Market

The year 2023 was dotted with significant milestones for Mazda in the United States. The introduction of the CX-90 Inline 6 and PHEV in March was a highlight, receiving widespread acclaim, including the Good Housekeeping 2024 Family Travel Award.

Leadership changes brought fresh perspectives, with Tom Donnelly assuming the role of MNAO’s President and CEO in April. Celebrating manufacturing excellence, Mazda Toyota Manufacturing in Huntsville, Alabama, marked its fifth anniversary in November.

A testament to Mazda’s commitment to safety was evident as all tested models, including popular choices like the Mazda3 Sedan and Hatchback, CX-30, CX-5, CX-9, and CX-50, garnered the IIHS 2023 TOP SAFETY PICK. Additionally, the 2024 Mazda3 Sedan, Hatchback, and CX-30 received upgrades to TOP SAFETY PICK+ following improvements in pedestrian crash avoidance.

Global Reach: Sales in Canada and Mexico

Mazda’s success extended beyond the U.S. borders. In Canada, Mazda Canada, Inc. (MCI) reported a significant increase in December sales, up by 62.9 percent compared to the previous year, with a total of 58,637 vehicles sold in 2023, marking a 17.6 percent increase.
