Hyundai Unveils Georgia-Built 2025 IONIQ 5 EV Lineup

Hyundai has announced pricing and updates for the 2025 IONIQ 5 electric vehicle lineup, marking the debut of its U.S.-built production from the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Georgia. The 2025 lineup includes a range of configurations, beginning with the SE RWD Standard Range model, priced at $43,975, which now features a larger 63-kWh battery and an EPA-estimated 245 miles of range. At the higher end, the Limited AWD model is priced at $58,100 and includes new safety and convenience features with an EPA-estimated range of 269 miles. Hyundai has also added a rugged, off-road-focused XRT model at $56,875, catering to drivers looking for adventure-ready capabilities.

The refreshed IONIQ 5 series emphasizes enhanced range and efficiency across its lineup. The SE RWD Long Range variant now achieves an impressive 318 miles on a single charge, equipped with an 84-kWh battery pack. Charging solutions have also been improved, with the inclusion of a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port and a standard CCS adapter, granting access to over 36,000 fast chargers across the United States. Hyundai claims the IONIQ 5 can charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 20 minutes using a 350-kW DC fast charger, addressing one of the key challenges in EV adoption: charging convenience and speed.

Expanded Model Features and Enhanced Charging Options

The 2025 IONIQ 5 lineup brings more than just power and range improvements, introducing a series of design and technology updates to meet evolving customer expectations. The new XRT variant, available exclusively with an all-wheel-drive configuration, features a raised suspension, unique 18-inch black alloy wheels, and all-terrain tires suited for off-road conditions. Additional exterior details like camo-patterned cladding, black trim, and rugged front and rear fascias distinguish the XRT from the rest of the lineup. Across all models, Hyundai has redefined the front and rear bumpers to create a wider, more assertive stance, with new color options including Atlas White Matte and Ecotronic Gray Matte.

Inside, the 2025 IONIQ 5 has received key ergonomic enhancements, including physical controls for HVAC and seat settings for improved ease of use, along with heated rear seats on higher trims. Technology has also been upgraded, with a 12.3-inch navigation display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Hyundai Digital Key 2 Premium (available on SEL and above), which allows drivers to unlock and start the vehicle with a smartphone or smartwatch. Safety upgrades include Blind-Spot Collision Warning and a new suite of parking assist technologies, such as Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 on the XRT and Limited trims.

Targeted for a Growing EV Market

Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 remains one of the brand’s best-selling EVs, positioned to appeal to a diverse audience that spans city commuters and adventure-seekers. With the expansion of its range, faster charging solutions, and the addition of the rugged XRT variant, Hyundai aims to broaden the model’s appeal within the growing electric vehicle market. Manufacturing the IONIQ 5 domestically not only helps meet local demand but also allows the model to qualify for federal tax incentives, with a potential credit of up to $7,500. This domestic production aligns with Hyundai’s strategy to compete in the U.S. EV market while meeting rising regulatory standards.

IONIQ 5: Arriving Late 2024

The 2025 IONIQ 5 models are expected to arrive at dealerships nationwide by the end of the year. The IONIQ lineup also includes the IONIQ 6 sedan, with a larger SUV, the IONIQ 7, planned for future release. This trio represents Hyundai’s commitment to expanding its all-electric portfolio, aiming to capture market share in a rapidly growing sector. As Hyundai continues to invest in production capabilities and EV technology, the IONIQ series is set to play a pivotal role in the brand’s North American strategy.
