We Drove the Hybrid-Only 2025 Toyota Camry

More than 40 years have passed since Toyota introduced the Camry to the U.S. market. Over the years, this midsize sedan has evolved alongside changing consumer preferences, which have recently favored utility vehicles like the Toyota RAV4. For 2025, Toyota has completely revamped the Camry, giving it a fresh and invigorating style. The new model is now hybrid-only, offering remarkable fuel efficiency at a significantly lower cost compared to a fully electric sedan.

Model Highlights

For 2025, Toyota bids its available V6 engine farewell and adds a hybrid system to its standard four-cylinder engine. An electronic continuously variable transmission sends power to the front wheels or to all four wheels with available all-wheel drive, a $1,525 upgrade.

Toyota marks the ninth generation of the Camry with the 2025 model year. Although the current generation retains the same footprint as the previous one, it features a revised grille, modified suspension, a standard hybrid system, and a revamped interior. Given that the Camry remains America’s best-selling sedan in a declining segment, Toyota deserves some credit for its efforts.
