Buick has just unveiled the 2024 Envista, a fresh entrant to the small SUV segment designed to redefine what a premium vehicle can be. The Envista is Buick’s response to the emerging white space in the SUV segment, offering a unique blend of an SUV’s cargo space and utility, packaged within the sleek and sporty proportions usually associated with a sedan.
Incorporating Buick’s new design language, first showcased on the Wildcat EV concept, the Envista debuts as the first vehicle to fully embrace this modern layout. This crossover encapsulates a long wheelbase, a low roof, and a sleek profile, reflecting the dynamics of a sedan, but in a premium crossover format.
Updated Design and Trim Levels
The 2024 Envista exemplifies Buick’s updated design approach. The Buick emblem, located on the hood, precedes an intricate grille design, paying homage to Buick’s classic models. The vehicle’s sculpted profile, accentuated by pronounced fender forms and a contoured waistline, implies fluidity. LED checkmark lamps on the fascia enhance the evolved headlamps and taillamps, continuing Buick’s signature wing lighting tradition in a sleek, layered format.
This model will be available in three distinct trims – Preferred, Sport Touring (ST), and Avenir. This lineup extends the popular and luxurious Avenir sub-brand across Buick’s entire portfolio.
Interior Luxury and Immersive Technology
The Envista’s cabin evokes a sense of spaciousness and lightness, courtesy of the long windows and innovative use of materials and technologies. With a long wheelbase and an efficient layout, this model offers legroom typically found in larger vehicles, topping any previous Buick small SUV.
The Envista sports an Ultrawide Infotainment Display, encompassing 19 diagonal inches of combined LCD screens. This system provides easy access to vehicle controls, giving drivers confidence and ease of interaction. The model also comes with an 11-inch-diagonal infotainment screen, the largest in the segment.
Safety and Comfort
The Envista will come standard with the Buick Driver Confidence package, featuring six active safety and driver assistance technologies, including Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and IntelliBeam auto high-beams. It also provides a high-definition Rear Vision Camera as a standard feature.
The model offers additional safety and driver assistance technologies, such as Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
Performance and Efficiency
The 2024 Envista will feature a high-performance 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission, achieving an estimated 136 horsepower with 162 pound-feet of torque. The engine’s turbocharger allows for a fast torque peak and longer RPM band maintenance, ensuring a responsive and engaging driving experience.
This new model is expected to deliver an estimated 30 mpg (combined), demonstrating its efficiency without compromising on performance.
