New GMC Acadia debuts at the North American International Auto Show.
The 2024 GMC Acadia advances the benchmarks in the high-end SUV sector, integrating expanded adaptability, intricate interior and exterior design, modernized technology, and a sumptuous in-cabin ambiance. Revealed in Detroit, this revamped model signifies a transformative moment for GMC’s lineup of SUVs and crossovers, incorporating a litany of standard safety components, along with innovative tech.
“Duncan Aldred, Global Vice President of Buick and GMC, noted, “The freshly unveiled Acadia embodies GMC’s core tenets of performance capability, expert-grade refinement, and technological ingenuity. It serves as a precursor for the broader evolution of GMC’s SUV offerings.”
Dimensionally Enhanced and Empowered
Compared to its antecedent, the 2024 Acadia occupies a larger footprint, stretching 10.6 inches more in length and standing 3.2 inches taller. This increase permits roomier interiors that can accommodate seven to eight passengers depending on the model trim.
The vehicle also boasts a boost in cargo volume—nearly 80 percent more room just behind the third-row seats and over 36 percent more behind the second row. Ben Zavala, design lead for GMC Acadia, stated, “Our design objective was to reimagine the Acadia’s aesthetics and dimensions to confer a more assertive, robust presence that aligns with GMC’s evolving brand character.”
Under the hood, all trims are powered by a novel 2.5-liter turbocharged engine, outputting 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. Coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the new engine also enhances towing capabilities. It can pull up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.
Advanced Driver Assistance Through Super Cruise
The Acadia is the fifth vehicle in GMC’s roster to offer Super Cruise—a groundbreaking hands-free driver support system operable on an extensive network of North American roads. The latest version, featured in the 2024 Acadia, also includes functionalities such as towing assist and auto lane change capabilities.
Interior Tech and Safety Innovations
Inside the 2024 Acadia, attention is drawn to a vertically oriented 15-inch premium infotainment display, standard across all trims. The system offers:
- User-customizable touchscreen interfaces
- Google compatibility for a range of applications like navigation
- Optional high-contrast displays
- An 11-inch driver information center is a standard inclusion, serving as a complement to the primary infotainment system.
In terms of safety and driver assistance, the new Acadia offers a plethora of standard features including Forward Collision Alert, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, and more.
Acadia AT4—Engineered for Off-Road Prowess
The all-new AT4 variant elevates the Acadia’s off-road capabilities, incorporating special design elements and exclusive interior finishes. Among its features are:
- Increased ride height and wider track with 18-inch AT tires
- Suspension calibrated for off-road conditions
- A specialized all-wheel-drive system with twin-clutch rear differentials
- Unique AT4 interior finishes with Forest Storm interiors and Mahogany stitching
Acadia Denali—The Pinnacle of Sophistication
The Denali trim reemphasizes its place in the luxury SUV sector with exclusive features such as:
- One-touch folding mechanisms for the second and third rows
- A panoramic sunroof
- Heated and ventilated front seats with optional heated second-row seats
- Active noise-cancellation technology
- A Bose premium sound system with up to 16 speakers
New GMC Acadia
With these features, the 2024 GMC Acadia not only meets but sets new standards for the premium SUV category. Its larger size once again aligns this model with the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave, GM’s two other three-row midsize crossover utility vehicles.
