kid-driving

It’s an age-old debate (no pun intended). Which driver are safer, teens or seniors? Which age group is the most dangerous overall? We have all the facts and figures here.

Every once in a while we hear a story about a senior citizen who forgot which way was up, or thought he was stepping on the brakes but stepped on the gas, or spaced out in some way and plowed through a bus-stop full of kids or something like that. Add to that the fact that we often find seniors driving 5 mph through a 45 mph speed zone and we begin to think maybe they shouldn’t be allowed to drive. Continue reading »

Most vehicle owners are aware of the visible risks in driving. It’s easy to see how reckless driving, distractions and intoxication can lead to a deadly accident. While it’s easy to avoid these obvious driving hazards, there are many hidden dangers lurking inside modern automobiles. Some chemicals and substances used in vehicle manufacture can cause cancer, cardiovascular disease, dementia and other serious illnesses.

Modern cars aren’t manufactured in a single facility. They are built from thousands of components from many different suppliers. While a vehicle manufacturer can control the actions and practices that take place in their own facility, it may not be possible to control the actions of some suppliers. This can be extremely difficult when components are manufactured overseas. Continue reading »

Car Salesman Shake Hands

If you are looking for a new car, you are probably considering how you are going to get the money to pay for it. You could save up and pay cash for a new car, but most likely, you are going to end up having to get a loan. When obtaining financing for your car, you should make sure to avoid a few key mistakes.

Negotiate Price Of The Car Not The Payment

The first thing you do is negotiate the price of the car as opposed to your monthly payment. The reason is that the price on the sticker is not the price you should be paying. Your monthly payment is not going to equal the price of the car after interest and other fees are tacked on. Continue reading »

It dates back about twenty-two years, when I was working as a supervisor at a local diaper delivery service. Continue reading »

Consumer Guide has an excellent tool- a Car Trade-in Calculator. It will evaluate the value of your used car. Before you trade one in, be sure to know what it is worth. You can always try to sell it outright, to an individual, then take that cash to the dealer when you buy a new one (or a newer one). Continue reading »

This is one hot machine! Starting at $22,680 the high performance 2010 Camaro is a lot of bang for your buck. The 312 HP V6 is incredible, yet still manages to get 29 MPG highway with the automatic 6-speed transmission. But if that’s not enough for you, try the 426 HP 6.2 liter V8.

Even the big V8 manages to get a respectable 24 MPG. Technology is alive and well at GM with power, performance and fuel economy in one very sharp package.

Yes, the American muscle car still lives. Move over Mustang, you’ve got some company at the top. (And that’s coming from a Ford man.) This is going to be a good year for Chevy. And next year will be even better- guaranteed. Continue reading »
